Uganda
Uganda is located in East Central Africa, where the Eastern and Western frontiers of the continent converge. The country features a relatively dry and flat savanna in the north, lush mountains in the west, and dense, remarkably lush forests in the central region. Visitors can also experience beautiful waterfalls, expansive tea plantations, and freshwater lakes.
Winston Churchill described Uganda as Africa’s Pearl in the early 1900s, and it’s easy to see why once visited.
The country is home to a diverse range of African wildlife specifically known for the highly endangered mountain gorilla found in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Chimpanzees can be found in the Budongo and Kaniyo Pabidi forests. Uganda boasts over 350 species of mammals, including cheetahs, lions, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, and elephants.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is a popular spot for wildlife watching, hosting four of the Big Five, flamboyant flamingos, and the rare tree-climbing lions of Ishasha. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking, quad biking, and horse-riding facilities. Uganda also offers a plethora of friendly locals, a vibrant cultural scene, and a lively capital city with bustling bars, clubs, and restaurants, earning it the title of ‘Africa’s friendliest country’.
